Our Story

As well as being a charity and a cafe, Kahaila is also a church.

We are people who earnestly desire to emulate the life and teaching of Jesus Christ. We are about relationship not religion, about fullness of life not legislation. We are committed to live life under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We do not have all of the answers, so we rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to transform us into the likeness of Jesus. We believe that the Bible is the most life transforming book of all time, in it we believe the true character of God is revealed. Our desire is to discover more of who God is through scripture and let that transform the way we live.

Coronavirus Update - January 2021

Due to current coronavirus restrictions, we cannot gather together in person. However, we will continue to meet virtually on Wednesday and Sunday evenings and as small groups through the week. Everyone is welcome to join, if you would like more information, please email

Forest Gate

Currently, we meet together to catch up and pray on Sunday evenings at 8pm on zoom. On the first Sunday of the month, we gather together for an all-age celebration on zoom.

Brick Lane

While the restrictions continue, we meet every Wednesday evening at 7pm-8pm on zoom for worship, discussion, prayer and reflection.

Prayer and Worship

On the second and forth Monday of the month, we have a prayer and worship meeting in our Aldgate Cafe at 7pm. Please feel free to come and join us as we pray for each other, our church, our communities and our planet.

(Not currently running due to Covid restrictions)

Small Groups

Small Groups meet throughout the week, and allow us to build friendship and community at a deeper level. They are a place in which we can be honest and be truly known.

(These groups tend to happen weekly/monthly through zoom)

If you would like any more information about the church and what happens, please feel free to email Andy. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us at any of our gatherings.

If you would like to get the most up-to-date news about the church, please sign up to our newsletter here.

Our Values

Kahaila is a place where all people belong regardless of what they believe.

We seek to live by faith – we do not want to be limited by our circumstances or paralysed by our fear.

Kahaila is a community which means we want to put other before ourselves.

We believe in generous giving – we want to be generous with all things, our finances, our time and our resources.

We believe in every member ministry, therefore we understand that God has a purpose for each one of us, so we are here to help each other to fulfil that purpose.

Our projects and the church exist and survive due to the generosity of people. Giving your money, your time or your expertise could make a great difference to the work that we do. If you feel able to give financially, there are two ways you can give; you can click below to set up a monthly donation via Direct Debit or, if you prefer, you can make a donation in person at our Brick Lane Cafe.

If you are interested in volunteering at Kahaila Cafe please email Andy.

If you would like to participate in any of the Kahaila Charity Projects, please email them directly through the links here.
